Suite Louise de Savoie

Located upstairs, overlooking the chateau, this superb 40 m² suite is designed as a memorial to honour Marie Josephine Louise de Savoie, Countess of Provence, King Louis XVIII’s wife who became a queen only posthumously as she died in 1810, before her husband reached the throne of France. She was Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette’s sister-in- law.

The salon with its warm tinted walls, ornate cornice ceilings and Restauration period furniture creates the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and daydreaming over this golden age of French history.

A large double bed (200x160) with antique canopy faces a lovely marble fireplace.
You may rest on the Charles X period single bed with canopy in the lounge part, which may also be used as a bed for an extra person (190x120).

A private bathroom has just been fitted in the tower to replace the antique one.
In the square tower adjacent to the salon, there are separate toilet facilities and an antique stone hand-basin.

Finally a large glass door leads you to the private 15m2 terrace, paved with Terracotta floors of burgundy and lined with an old stone balustrade. You can enjoy a cup of tea or any other drink, sitting comfortably on old garden chairs and admire the old hilltop village of Valensole. Below, you can overlook the gardens “à la française” as they first existed.
